Clever Clogs tip # 747

Unlock the full potential of WIN + V *

Hello and welcome to the tip of the month November. Quite a bit later than normal (I typically send them on the first Tuesday of the month), but I hope the bonus tip with the nifty workaround for those without Excel's Checkbox functionality kept you going.

Today is a big day for kids in The Netherlands... Sinterklaas is back! 19 sleeps to go until the big day (December 5th), so remember: it's super easy to create a countdown in Excel for special dates such as Sinterklaas.

Speaking of countdowns... The clock is ticking for Windows 10. In October 2025 Windows 10 will reach its end of life. After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, feature updates, or security updates.

I know some of you haven't upgraded yet, but to those of you who have ... did you notice that WIN + V has five extra options? These include Most Recently Used (emojis), Emoji, GIF, Kaomoji (don't ask), and Symbols. While Clipboard history is still the default view, there's so much more to explore!

Personally, I really like Symbols ...

... but I cannot get out of the habit of pressing WIN + full stop (or period for my American subscribers) to open the emoji panel.

Anyway ... check it out! WIN + V is CTRL + V on steroids. (I know it has an official new name in Windows 11, but I can never remember it.)

By the way, if you still have some of your training budget left for 2024, I've got availability in December! Training doesn't have to be long, torturous (or expensive). How about booking an hour of my time to prepare your team for the Windows 11 upgrade? I'll highlight key differences to watch out for and share tips you can implement right now with Windows 10.
