Add an animated GIF or meme to a slide (Microsoft PowerPoint) *

OK, you might be captaining "Team Unprofessional" but the other day I got a question from one of my lovely delegates and long-time tip subscriber, Hilary, who wrote "How do I add a gif to a PowerPoint slide? I couldn't find it in your Tips archive..."

I liked her idea to use it as one of her welcome slides (I hope they liked the donuts, Hilary) and I've personally used animated gifs to announce coffee breaks.

So whether you like them or not, you can find lots of these from within PowerPoint.

Here's how:

  1. On the Insert tab, click Pictures followed by Online Pictures.
  2. Type meme or animated gif and press ENTER. You can also type some additional terms to narrow down the results.
  3. Click the picture(s) or meme(s) you want to insert and click the Insert button.
  4. Change the layout as normal or click on Design Ideas for inspiration.
