Switch to Word 2003 formatting (Word 2007)

Do you hate the extra space between paragraphs in Word 2007? Or perhaps you cannot get used to the default Word 2007 setting which automatically adds a space between paragraphs? (You all know how obsessed I am with less clicks, but I'm quite happy pressing the ENTER key twice, thank you very much.)

So, let's open all future documents with the Word 2003 default style and fonts.

Here's how:

  1. Open Word.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles, point to Style Set, and click Word 2003.
  3. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles, point to Fonts and under Built-in, click Office Classic.
  4. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles and then click Set as Default.

If you (for whatever reason) at some point want to use the updated Word 2007 formatting, you can use the same procedure to switch back to the Word 2007 styles.

Until next week.
