Display today's date on your taskbar (Windows)

You're probably aware that if you hover your mouse pointer over the clock on the taskbar it will display today's date. But did you know that if you resize the taskbar it will also display today's day as well as the date.

Here's how:

  1. Point to the edge of the taskbar until the pointer changes into a double-headed arrow.
  2. Drag the border until the day and date are displayed.

If your taskbar is "locked" you cannot resize the taskbar. Right-click an empty area on the taskbar and then click "Lock the Taskbar" to remove the check mark.

By the way, this tip works in XP and Vista but I don't know whether this also applies to Windows 7. Anybody out there who made the swap?

Until next week.
