Do you flag messages to remind yourself to follow up a specific email? If so, you might have created a For Follow Up Search Folder and added it to your list of Favorites, so that you see how many items you have on your "to do list". It also gives you a one-click access to it, right underneath your Inbox.
From experience I know how easy it is to let that list grow and grow, so here's a quick way to remove the flag.
If you do this from the For Follow Up folder you will notice that the message disappears. Don't worry... that's just because it is no longer flagged. As a matter of fact, it is now marked as complete, but can still be found in whatever folder it was stored.
By the way, the Insert key is a toggle ... you can use it to flag messages or to mark them as complete.
