Quickly add to the end of cell contents (Microsoft Excel)

You can, as you probably know, edit a cell entry by selecting the entry and simply typing the new information. Alternatively, you can edit the text in the formula bar. However,

Did you know ...

You can quickly edit cells in Excel without using your mouse.

Here's how:

  1. Select the cell that contains the text or formula you want to edit. (If you use your arrow keys you don't even have to use your mouse for this step.)
  2. Press F2. Edit mode is activated and the insertion point appears to the right of the last character.
  3. Edit the cell contents and press either [ENTER] or one of the [ARROW] keys to enter the change.

This tip is particularly useful when editing hyperlinks in Excel. If you use your mouse to click on a cell with a hyperlink it automatically opens your web browser. Using your keyboard, however, lets you edit hyperlinks with ease.

Until next week.
