Search the Web using Google without visiting the Google home page

There are numerous internet-wide search facilities. You might be using the popular search engine, Google, accessible via, for instance, their www.google.co.uk website. However,

Did you know ...

Google has a free toolbar that you can download, helping you to use Google to search from any Web site without returning to the Google home page to begin another search. If you are using Internet Explorer 5.5 or later it will also eliminate pop-up ads. It's very easy to download and install.

Here's how:

1. Ensure you have the necessary system requirements (Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later)
2. Launch Internet Explorer
3. Open http://toolbar.google.com/
4. If necessary choose your preferred language
5. Click "Download Google Toolbar"
6. Select "Open"
7. Read the Terms and Conditions agreement and click Agree (or Disagree). Be warnded the software is still being developed and may harm your system.
8. Depending on your preference select either "Enable advanced features" or "disable advanced features"
9. Hit the "Next" button
10. Select a Google site to use for your searches (Tip: To quickly find a site type the first letter of the site. For example, type in "U" and you will see the first site starting with "U" from where you can quickly select "United Kingdom (google.co.uk)".
11. Hit the "Next" button to complete the installaton
