quickly switching between running programs (Microsoft Windows)

To switch between running programs you can click a program's button on the taskbar. However,

Did you know...

You can use a key combination to rapidly switch between active applications running on the system?

Here's how:

  1. Press ALT + TAB to bring up a small window in the middle of your screen showing the icons of all the applications that are currently running.
  2. Keep your finger on the ALT key and continue to press the TAB key, until you reach your desired application. Pressing SHIFT + ALT + TAB cycles the other way, in case you missed the application you wanted.
  3. Release the ALT key.

You can also switch between the last open program or document by pressing ALT + TAB.

Until next week.
