quickly closing all open documents (Microsoft Word and Excel)

To close the active file without exiting the program, you can use the File, Close command. However,

Did you know ...

that in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel you can quickly close all open documents?

Here's how:

  1. Press and hold down the SHIFT key
  2. Select Close All on the File menu

If any of the documents contain any unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save the file before closing.
