quickly insert trademark symbols (Microsoft Office)

Well, well, well. As if it wasn't spooky enough that Jonathan Grant emailed another great tip on the very day that I decided to use one he sent some time ago (thanks Jonathan!), I just spot that the very first time I introduced you to him was tip # 167 (http://www.roem.co.uk/tip_167.html) and this is tip number 176. Freaky! Anyway, Jonathan pointed out keyboard shortcuts to quickly insert symbols that are included in Microsoft Office's built-in list of AutoCorrect entries, such as trademark symbols.

Here's how:

  1. copyright symbol : type (c)
  2. federal registration trademark symbol : type (r)
  3. trademark symbol : type (tm)

By the way, if it's arrows you're after, have a go with the following: <-- or <== or <=> or or ==> or -->. Or add a smiley by typing :-). In short ... check out the Tools, AutoCorrect Options command in Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook to have a look at the list.

Oh, and remember, if you want to undo the automatic change, you can simply click the Undo button on the Standard toolbar or, even simpler, the BACKSPACE key immediately after the program makes the automatic change. (See tip http://www.roem.co.uk/tip_27.html) Spooky PS ... tip 127 (rather than # 27 I just mentioned) is also about AutoCorrect entries. Yikes!

Until next week.
