Hands Off Software Training

Are you looking to excel with Excel, but the very thought of spending a day in front of a computer in a classroom puts you off? Perhaps you don't want to spend time entering data, correcting mistakes and feel as if you are slowing everyone else down? Or perhaps you are happy to experiment on your own and don't want to wait for slower delegates to catch up?

This seminar will motivate, enthuse and drive you to get a buzz out of using Excel. A seminar handout with a CD packed with exercise files enables you to practice what you've learnt at your own pace at your own time. For one month following the seminar you are entitled to free post-course advice on any subject matter covered in the seminar.

The Plan

Microsoft Excel has lots of underutilized features that can make you more productive with less work, thereby saving you and your organisation in the long run. This seminar will teach you how to use these features and their usefulness in your organisation, challenging you to do things differently. Learn from somebody who talks jargon-free and who has a proven track record using Excel in a business environment.

Karen will reveal the fifteen tricks of the trade:

  1. Save countless hours in calculating and recalculating information by using formulas
  2. Perform more complicated calculations by using functions
  3. Avoid the "pitfalls" of relative cell references
  4. Test certain conditions and return one of two entries
  5. Present information in the form of a chart
  6. Produce summary reports from different worksheets
  7. Merge data from multiple users by linking workbooks
  8. Manage large spreadsheets by splitting the workbook window into panes
  9. Ensure accurate data entry by restricting cell entries to specific conditions
  10. Search for a value in one place and insert it in another using lookup functions
  11. Use Excels database features to quickly retrieve data and manipulate lists
  12. Analyse your data, using PivotTables
  13. Automate repetitive tasks by creating macros
  14. Assign a macro to a button on your toolbar or new menu
  15. Learn numerous time-saving tricks and shortcuts

It's easier done than said!

Feedback

Don't just take our word for it. Here's what people say about hands off training:

"I have attended many training seminars over the years but none have been delivered with such a refreshing and relaxed format. Due to this the benefits of attending were many and I would recommend Karen's courses to anybody who wishes to learn without the feeling that they are just being taught."
Tim Heath, Manciple, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge

"Computer courses can be scary, this course was thoroughly enjoyable, well paced, plenty of information - a day well spent! "
Jayne Williams, Grifols UK Ltd, Cambridge

"I found the seminar extremely interesting and a very different way of learning. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who uses Excel and wants to progress using the various functions to a greater degree. I enjoyed the day and even found time to look through the folder at home in the evening. I would not hesitate to go on another hands-off course. "
Linda Curnow, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge

"I enjoyed the open forum rather than just sitting at the machine and working."
Jane Golding, Churchill College, Cambridge

"Non-hands on was very interactive and enabled plenty of Q&A."
Carolyn Harden, National Air Traffic Services

"Karen was very informative and went at a pace that everyone could follow. Always made time for all members of the group."
Sharon Nightingale, Swavesey Village College, Swavesey

"Great venue, lovely trainer! I really enjoyed it. (Much more than I thought I would.)"
Liz Whitaker, Norfolk Federation of Young Farmers Clubs

"Very useful course. Hands-off approach was much better than expected as allowed everyone to progress at the same pace and kept the continuity going. Trainer was happy to deviate from prepared programme and address relevant questions. "
Emma Holmes, GMG BioBusiness Ltd, Cambridge

"I enjoyed the course and gained great value from the hands-off approach. This type of course covered a wide selection of "opportunities" and it is now down to practicing and implementation in the work-place. Many thanks for such an interesting day and also for your quick response to the unanswered questions. "
Angela Mead, The Mller Centre, Cambridge

"I've developed excel-ent skills! Thought you'd be pleased to know that today I am working on a spreadsheet to create a report and it's a real pleasure to apply the knowledge I learned on your course. It's brilliant! Many thanks for your excellent tuition. "
Michael Bennett, Forward Business Solutions, Whittlesford

"Content was very good - I picked up a lot of new ideas - and remembered tips I'd forgotten!"
Natalie King, Atkinson Bolton Consulting Limited

"The quality of the event and the venue was excellent. The course pack is very comprehensive and will be a useful reference tool. Excellent value for money!"
Carol Lyon, Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park
