Hands Off Software Training

Are you looking to Master Microsoft Access, but the very thought of spending a day in front of a computer in a classroom puts you off? Perhaps you don't want to spend time entering data, correcting mistakes and feel as if you are slowing everyone else down? Or perhaps you are happy to experiment on your own and don't want to wait for slower delegates to catch up?

This seminar will motivate, enthuse and drive you to get a buzz out of using Access. A seminar handout with a CD packed with exercise files enables you to practice what you've learnt at your own pace at your own time. For one month following the seminar you are entitled to free post-course advice on any subject matter covered in the seminar.

The Plan

Microsoft Access is a powerful, yet easy-to-use, database management program with a lot of features that can make you more productive with less work. Topics will include:

  • when and how to set up a flat file instead of a relational database
  • create tables, forms, queries and reports
  • control the appearance, storage or handling of fields with properties
  • use Find, Filter or Query to display records
  • import data from an Excel spreadsheet or other external data source
  • use a report to create (Christmas) mailing labels
  • introduction to relational database design, working with multiple tables
  • extract information from multiple tables
  • use queries to change multiple records in one operation
  • include calculated fields in forms/reports
  • analyse information using crosstabs
  • export data to Excel
  • generate a graphic representation of data

Feedback

Don't just take our word for it. Here's what people say about hands off training:

"I have attended many training seminars over the years but none have been delivered with such a refreshing and relaxed format. Due to this the benefits of attending were many and I would recommend Karen's courses to anybody who wishes to learn without the feeling that they are just being taught."
Tim Heath, Manciple, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge

"Computer courses can be scary, this course was thoroughly enjoyable, well paced, plenty of information - a day well spent! "
Jayne Williams, Grifols UK Ltd, Cambridge

"I found the seminar extremely interesting and a very different way of learning. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who uses Excel and wants to progress using the various functions to a greater degree. I enjoyed the day and even found time to look through the folder at home in the evening. I would not hesitate to go on another hands-off course. "
Linda Curnow, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge

"I enjoyed the open forum rather than just sitting at the machine and working."
Jane Golding, Churchill College, Cambridge

"Non-hands on was very interactive and enabled plenty of Q&A."
Carolyn Harden, National Air Traffic Services

"Karen was very informative and went at a pace that everyone could follow. Always made time for all members of the group."
Sharon Nightingale, Swavesey Village College, Swavesey

"Great venue, lovely trainer! I really enjoyed it. (Much more than I thought I would.)"
Liz Whitaker, Norfolk Federation of Young Farmers Clubs

"Very useful course. Hands-off approach was much better than expected as allowed everyone to progress at the same pace and kept the continuity going. Trainer was happy to deviate from prepared programme and address relevant questions. "
Emma Holmes, GMG BioBusiness Ltd, Cambridge

"I enjoyed the course and gained great value from the hands-off approach. This type of course covered a wide selection of "opportunities" and it is now down to practicing and implementation in the work-place. Many thanks for such an interesting day and also for your quick response to the unanswered questions. "
Angela Mead, The Mller Centre, Cambridge

"I've developed excel-ent skills! Thought you'd be pleased to know that today I am working on a spreadsheet to create a report and it's a real pleasure to apply the knowledge I learned on your course. It's brilliant! Many thanks for your excellent tuition. "
Michael Bennett, Forward Business Solutions, Whittlesford
